Helping Mothers Safeguard the Future

"Nothing you do for children is ever wasted." Garrison Keillor

Being a single parent is hard enough, but parenting while going back to school in today's world comes with an additional laundry list of challenges. For many single moms returning to college is not an option but a necessity. And not always easy to do when simultaneously required to manage employment outside of the home, pay the cost of rising tuition, purchase expensive text books, transportation, and a host of other financial obligations. And on the top of that, expected to layout funds for additional childcare costs. For many single parents, the financial strain becomes too much to juggle, and prohibitive childcare costs are often the final straw…the last weight to topple the scale over, making going back to college feel impossible. But this doesn't have to be the case.

"Just because I am a single mother doesn't mean I cannot be a success."

––Yvonne Kaloki

Sistah Chat Radio Productions, working in conjunction with WOMEN UNITED along with other generous and talented organizations in the Poconos [See list below] don't believe single moms should be penalized for being strapped for cash, and unable to seek higher education due to prohibitive childcare costs. Together, they have joined together to do something about it.
